Wayne County is located north of Stanton County in northeast Nebraska. Wayne, its largest town and county seat with 5,600 people, is located about 25 miles northeast of Norfolk and is home to Wayne State College.

Wayne County raises thousands of chickens each year and proudly celebrates this fact with their world-famous Wayne Chicken Show every July.
