Springfield, originally named for springs nearby, is located north of the Platte River along Nebraska Highway 50 in Sarpy County. A few minutes outside of the Omaha Metro area, Springfield’s 1,200 residents enjoy country living with access to the big city. A section of the MoPac Trail runs from Springfield to the Platte River for walking, bicycling and horseback riding through scenic farm lands to the wooded banks of the shallow river.

For one week every summer, Springfield hosts the Sarpy County Fair. Visitors flock to the fairgrounds for mutton bustin’, tractor pulls and carnival rides.
