Keith County is considered a Gateway to the American West. Ogallala is the county’s largest city with 4,600 people. Known for its cowboy culture, Keith County is also the capital of Lake McConaughy fun. Glimpses of the county’s Wild West days can be seen in present-day Ogallala. The Front Street Restaurant and Bar includes a replica frontier town where gunfights are re-enacted every summer.
