The community of Atkinson lies at the intersection of highways 275 and 11 in Holt County. About 1,300 residents live in this community 10 miles southeast of Stuart. Many visitors come to Atkinson seeking ice cream treats from the antique soda fountain at the R.F. Goeke Variety Store. Atkinson is home of the summer Hay Days celebration which brings thousands of visitors to the community each August.
