Garden County is located east of Morrill County in Nebraska’s panhandle. Osh Kosh, population 880, is its county seat. Nearby Lewellen is home to 200 people and offers opportunities for arts and culture with The Most Unlikely Place and 17 Ranch Winery.

The Oregon and California trails passed through this area and wagon ruts are still visible at Ash Hollow State Historical Park south of Lewellen. The Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge encompasses 46,000 acres and is a destination for hunting, fishing, birdwatching and wildlife photography.
