O’Neill’s 2017 St. Patrick’s Day celebration is an official Nebraska Sesquicentennial event. The March 15 through 18 party kicks off with the painting of the shamrock at the intersection of highways 20 and 281. Then there are the new inductions to the Irish Walk of Fame, and O’Neill’s famous Irish Dancers will continue their string of performances dating back to the 1960s. Ever see a horse painted green? You will at this colorful small town celebration of culture and heritage.

Check out the giant rock in the center of downtown. The O’Neill Blarney Stone was dedicated and blessed on St. Patrick’s Day in 2009 with prayer and Irish song. The rock weighing 13,410 pounds that people kiss and take photos with is set in stone at Fourth and Douglas streets.
