The Schilling Wildlife Management Area allows public access to the confluence of the Platte and Missouri rivers just one mile northeast of Plattsmouth. Historical markers detail the Lewis and Clark Expedition’s journey through the area on July 21, 1804. Today, this scenic spot has been preserved for outdoor recreation. Picnic near the confluence or wade out and explore the sand bars of the notoriously shallow Platte. The area is also open to fishing and hunting per state regulations.
